  2. I recieved this unit as promised from the supplier. Technically it was nothing like I expected. The DVD recorder only records in Video format which means it will not play on 90% of other machines. I tried to record off of Cable and it would not record as a security protection for possible copy guard. It is extremly complicated to use. So if you are buying a unit to play tapes and videos its Ok. At near the same money I looked at a player for Blue ray and tapes and would have been much happier with a better playing unit. If you are looking for a recorder look elsewere. Thanks for listening. Will Techy

  3. My husband studied the DVD/VCR combinations extensively and decided the JVC DR-MV150B would be a good choice. It had an audio problem right out of the box. After a good bit of run around by the JVC Customer Service, the unit was sent to the service center. It was there several weeks waiting for a part to be manufactured. The unit had the same audio problem when it was returned. It was sent back to the service center who said it did not have a problem – the problem was ours. With the help of local JVC TV service rep, who does not service recorders, we confirmed that the unit did have a problem. JVC wanted it sent back to the service center, but my husband refused since they had had it twice. They eventually reluctantly agreed to replace he unit, still insinuating the problem was ours. The replacement finally arrived after two weeks. My husband had a dickens of a time getting the unit set up with our new satellite system (Customer Service was no help). It seems to be working. JVC customer service has been pathetic and frustrating. They are extremely slow and don’t seem to be very knowledgeable. Think twice before buying any JVC product.

  4. I had long wanted to copy my old home movies from VHS to DVD, but the combo units were too expensive. The JVC DR-MV150B is very reasonably priced.

I have used it to copy hundreds of hours of precious home video from VHS tape to DVD, some over 20 years old. The quality of the copy is as good as the tape it came from.

And of course the picture quality on new DVDs is excellent.

My only complaint is that the users’ manual is a bit difficult to follow in places, but after a brief period of trial-and-error, I found it really easy to use.

I’m very happy with this product.

  5. I love almost everything about this unit, especially since I don’t have cable or satellite, just a roof antenna. The problem is there is a constant annoying audio chirp in the tuner – I just sent it back to see if another one might work. Hopefully I just got a lemon.
